I had good intentions on starting this purge on Day 1 but my work schedule made it difficult lol. Not off to a great start! BUT, I knocked it out and caught up during Q's nap time today. I seriously need this shirt.
When the kids are at daycare, I don't use that opportunity as a chance to read and watch TV. I literally am go go go when I have a free minute. Working out, catching up on Beachbody stuff, cleaning, cooking, prepping...whatever needs to get done, I am doing it while they are at daycare. And when they are at home with me, naptime is go time!
Luckily for me, I started purging my house a few years ago and have kept it up off and on since then. But I love challenges like this to keep me motivated. Doing little bits at a time is super helpful and much more effective for me.
I am following A Bowl Full of Lemons 31 day purge! Click the link to see today's challenge!
DAY 1- food pantry
I purge my pantry every so many months, so I actually only threw out 3-4 items. Score! I don't really like my pantry set up, but we are working with what we have, so it works for now. This was after, but not much different then before lol.
DAY 2- magazines
We hardly get any magazines, and this is currently the only magazines we have in the house right now! So this took maybe 1 minute haha!
DAY 3- dresser drawers
Again, I didn't have much to go through in our dressers. I also try and go through my clothes every now and then, but I did clean out my bedside table!
Day 4- toys
I feel very redudant here! Again, I try and keep up with the toys as far as purging, so I didn't do anything with this, except just clean up lol. I participate in a local consignment sale twice a year and inbetween I go through randomly to see what I can sell. So no purging done here.
Day 5- cleaners
Ah, here is a day I can benefit from! Which is the current day, so now I am caught up! I don't go through my household cleaners often. Under my sink was gross and I'm too embarassed to post a before picture, but I'm happy to say I did give it a good scrub and organized it! The challenge suggeseted organizing cleaners in caddys like the picture below, but with little kids I get nervous keeping them all down low.
I did put all the stuff I would use more frequently in this caddy which will go in a locked cabinet in our laundry room.
All the other cleaners I did go through and throw out what needed to be thrown out, and put them in a cabinet up high. Also in the green bin is where I store my cleaning rags. And I scrubbed a few of the shelves in there.
So now I am caught up and am hoping to be able to do the daily assignments on the day they are supposed to be done! If you want to join in, there's still time! You can go to the blog linked above or find it on facebook under A bowl full of lemons to join the FB group!
